Superhuman stamina: Sebastian's stamina is increased beyond normal human levels when he absorbs kinetic energy. After absorbing enough energy, he can attack more quickly than his opponents can react. Superhuman speed: When he has absorbed kinetic energy, Sebastian's speed is increased.Once, after repeatedly being hit by Colossus, Sebastian slapped both sides of Colossus' head and Colossus' nose started to bleed. He is also adept at taunting foes into attacking him.
If bound, he can be punched by a teammate until he is strong enough to break the bonds.
Superhuman strength: If properly energized, Sebastian can lift and hold approximately one hundred times his weight. Hitting Sebastian is often described as "punching a mattress". He is adept at not letting enemies realize his power until they have hit him one too many times. Superhuman durability: Sebastian can still be crushed or cut, but cuts are superficial because he saps the blade of all its thrusting or cutting energy. Often, he will have his mercenaries pummel him to give him enough stored energy that he need not sleep for some time. Kinetic metabolism: Sebastian can forgo sleep if he receives enough kinetic energy. According to Sebastian, kinetic energy just works the best. It was revealed in his encounter with Hercules and Madison Jeffries that his power of energy absorption is not limited to kinetic energy and that he can absorb any form of energy to fuel his powers. For example, in once instance he was shown to spend time hitting a wall after waking in order to build up his power reserves. Without absorbing energy, Sebastian is merely a strong ordinary human, though normally he works to keep his strength at a superhuman level. Sebastian absorbs the energy of any blow he is struck by, not just punches, but also projectiles like bullets and, to a less successful degree, electricity and physically-based energy beams. Unusual tactics are required to defeat him, usually by incapacitating him or by attacking him psionically. This makes him extremely difficult to defeat in battle, as every blow struck against him only makes him stronger. Kinetic energy absorption: Sebastian has the superhuman ability to absorb kinetic energy and to metabolize it to enhance his own physical strength, speed, and stamina. Sebastian Shaw is an Alpha-Level mutant with the following abilities: Uriel Worthington (distant relative, deceased). Eimin Worthington (distant relative, deceased). Trevor Fitzroy (alternative reality descendant, deceased). Cornelius Shaw (paternal grandfather, deceased). Wallace Worthington (ancestor, deceased). I think Duggan’s intent is to let things build, but, if I may add one criticism, I do think waiting two years/nearly 20 issues and having yet to bring it up again has been a BIT too much time on the backburner.īut basically I do think he’s coming at Shinobi from a sympathetic angle and he’s got some story in mind for him even if he’s taking his sweet time on it, and I do like that. or he never believed it in the first place and has just been playing along til the time is right for him to strike.Īnd we know he has SOME kind of story planned for Shinobi, because in his resurrection issue-#3, remember that?- Shinobi gets that katana in Japan and there’s all these mysterious hints about it, and it clearly has nothing to do with Sebastian’s side of the family.
We’ve yet to see if he BELIEVES the lie Sebastian told him about Emma and Kate being the ones to orchestrate his death, so my bet is that if he believes it, he’ll find out it’s a lie…. If anything, I think it’s more likely Shinobi is going to turn on Sebastian. Not to mention he’s depicted building a bond with Christian WITHOUT him being depicted as some evil rival for Bobby over it.ĭuggan is VERY unsubtle about his villains-not just Sebastian, but also the Struckers, the Verendi kids, that Chinese lady-so I don’t think he’s going to pull a fast one with Shinobi turning into The Big Bad All Along. Not only has Shinobi not done a SINGLE malicious little thing at all so far, there’s a scene to specifically CONFIRM that he wasn’t involved in Kate’s murder and had NO knowledge of it. One thing I do like that Duggan is doing (yes, I can be fair to him!) is he seems to be going for a sympathetic storyline for Shinobi. Okay, one more thing-one more!-and then I will get to ask replies!
